Shakopee AVID

Thank you to all who stopped by today, had a table, or volunteered your time for the AVID card show. It was a huge success!
The entire idea, planning and implentation of the event was the mastermind of Shakopee AVID 11 students. They plan to use all funds raised for an extra college visit trip. 🏫🎓

Today the AVID 7th graders from East and West Middle Schools visited Shakopee High School to learn more about life as a high school student. This is always a fun day as our AVID juniors and seniors take on the leadership roles of showing them around, answering questions about rigorous courses and preparing for college, and showing them what high school tutorials look and sound like. Student leadership at its finest!

A huge shout out to the AVID Alumni who joined our SHS AVID seniors this week. The seniors heard first-hand stories and advice about college life: everything from commuting vs. living on campus, to what to expect for course rigor, to how to survive in the dorms!
AVID is a family, so even though these students don’t all know each other, they are always there to support one another!
