When petting and playing with your dog, especially when they are young, intentionally play with their feet, ears, and mouth. By doing things like touching their feet, toes and nails during positive play experience, you will desensitize them to being touched in these areas.

Doggy tip of the day: Socialize your puppy- Lots of pet parents think that the term “puppy socialization” means introducing your puppy to other dogs. But there’s a lot more to it than that. In fact, socialization is the process of introducing your puppy to the whole wide world, from different types of people to places and objects they’ve never seen before. The goal is to expose your puppy to, well, just about everything.

Doggy tip of the day- Shock collars can harm your dog. The electrostatic shock can cause psychological distress for your pet, including phobias and high levels of stress, and can result in unhealthy increases in heart rate and painful burns to your dog’s skin. Use of shock collars can also habituate your pet to pain and cause increases in aggression and fear-based behaviours.
