Syre PTA is supporting Hopelink’s End Summer Hunger campaign with a Field Day food drive. Donation bins will be in the front office starting Tuesday, June 2 and by the Syre field during Field Day on Friday, June 12.

Most-needed items include cereal/oats, nut or seed butters, snacks, fruit cups, and ready-to-eat meals.

Let’s fill those bins and help local families this summer! 💙

♟️ Syre Chess Club finishes 12th in State Tournament! ♟️

Coach Walter Guity shared that our Syre Chess Club team had an incredible showing at the Washington State Tournament last weekend!

After sending just two students last year, we had 11 players compete this year—and out of 246 teams statewide, we placed 12th overall!

A special shoutout to our first-time competitors—Will, Nakita, and Elliot—who each won at least one game in their very first tournament.

Top performers included:

Oliver (4th grade): 4/5 points, 16th in the state
Sage & Enkhtulga (5th grade): 3.5/5, top 30 finishes
Noah (2nd) & Solange (K): 3/5 points

We also want to recognize Laila, Jasper, and Declan for beating higher-rated opponents and keeping team spirits high throughout the competition.

With over 1,500 players, this was the largest chess tournament in Washington State history—an amazing experience for our students to learn, compete, and grow.
