This is an overlay of where known radioactive incidents have been documented at the Santa Susana Field Lab in "AREA IV," or as the Department of Energy calls it, the "ETEC," and the WatchDuty App with the satellite layer turned on. Area IV is where the majority of the nuclear experimentation happened at the SSFL, though radioactive particles have been documented across the site.

The rest of the contaminated areas at the SSFL are primarily chemicals- but many are also long-lasting and toxic and carcinogenic.

That's why we're working for a "background" cleanup to remove all man-made contamination. Otherwise our community will be at risk for thousands of generations from the site's contamination, every time there's a wildfire.
