Going Yard BBQ

Just a quick post from our weekend where we attended the Downtown Showdown BBQ Cook-Off in Lake City. I was solo ride again as Charlotte is still recovering from her shoulder injury and was unable to come with me. Sure miss her help on these cook weekends.

We started Friday night with a one-meat rib burn. We did well and finished 4th out of 21 teams who participated.

Saturday morning brought the normal contest and we started out well. The only notable change for us this contest is that we put the new Outlaw offset smoker into service. Boy, very impressed with its performance. It contributed to our success this weekend.

Chicken 12th
Ribs 7th
Pork 17th
Brisket 3rd

Overall 4th with a 702.2860, with 41 teams in attendance. We had a good day.

Special thanks to those that help us on our BBQ journey. Heath Riles BBQ for those wonderful rubs and sauces, especially the Hot Honey Peach Glaze and Peach rub which made those Friday night ribs so good. Special thanks to The Atlanta BBQ Store which keeps us stocked up on rubs and sauces and other BBQ items which make our life easier.

Up next for us is the Pitmaster in Paradise contest next weekend at the Margaritaville RV resort in Auburndale.
