Lawn mower spindles are essentially shafts that rotate your lawn mower blades. They are connected to the engine power via a pulley and belt system.

Many repair shops have long wait times on repairs (up to 4 weeks during busy season), are overpriced ($120 an hour or more for labor), and require you to bring your mower to their location. If you need to transport your mower to their location then they typically charge up to $60 or more each way, if they have a transport option at all.

Most repair shops also sell expensive brand new mowers, meaning they have an incentive to sell you a new mower rather than do an affordable repair.
