A prayer for fathers.
Father in Heaven,
You are Father to fatherless; You have mercy on those who have
not known mercy; You call Yours those who were once alienated
from You; You draw those without a family into Your holy Family.
For the father who would neglect his duty, soften his heart. Fill him
with love for his child and its mother. Convict him of the call You
have put before him and equip him to fulfill it. Place men in his life
who can model and point to Your fatherly love.
For the father who is eager to love and protect his growing family,
give him courage, conviction, and compassion. Raise up men who
can walk with him, instructing him in the ways of godliness.
We humbly ask that You build families in our community with fathers
who love and lead as Jesus loves and leads.
Father, we delight in being Your children. Amen.
