Yesterday wrapped up the Illinois Primary Health Care Association Virtual Leadership Conference. I will always hold a special place in my heart for this Association and the staff, and have always had life changing takeaways from this conference every year. The takeaway this year was something that Kareem Abdul-Jabbar said in his closing keynote speech. "Make friends with someone who doesn't look like you" I found this very simple statement to be incredibly insightful and a true step forward in gaining a better understanding of the fact that we all live different lives, and we all experience different struggles and triumphs. The only way to truly love and accept someone is to take the time to learn about them.
