Africa Tabernacles

This is where church happens for many congregations across West Africa — a makeshift space that holds 30 or 40 people, packed in and overflowing. The pastor has been faithfully preaching, discipling, and serving his community for years. The church is healthy. The church is growing. But there's simply no more room.

Africa Tabernacles partners with congregations exactly like this one — established, thriving churches that are ready to reach more of their community but have run out of space to do it.

Join us in praying for Kevin and Moriah Thompson, AGWM Africa missionaries partnering with Africa Tabernacles, who are experiencing extreme flooding due to heavy rainfall in Songon, Ivory Coast.

The factory where the Thompsons live and serve produces the materials that become tabernacles for churches across Africa, each one a permanent gathering place for a congregation eager to grow. Knowing the site had flooded before, the team built a protective wall around the property to guard against rising water.

On June 29, during the heaviest rainfall of the year, 70 yards of that wall gave way. Water rushed onto the property, rising nine feet in some areas and four feet inside the factory. The machines that once turned out tabernacle materials now sit silent while the team works to restore them, hoping they'll run again.

When Pastor Tesfaye's wife came to faith, her family violently opposed her decision. What followed nearly cost her her life. By every earthly measure, she should not have survived.

But alone near a riverbank, in her most desperate moment, she cried out to God: "I know you are real. Please save me."

He answered.

Years later, when she and Pastor Tesfaye went searching for land to build their church, they found a piece of property near a pasture by a river. She recognized it immediately. It was the same place where God had heard her prayer.

They knew exactly where to build.
