Before you clean up your driveway this holiday, it's important to know how to safely throw away fireworks. 🎆

Un-soaked fireworks can easily spark fires inside our collection trucks, putting our drivers at risk. Keep your cleanup safe with the Soak, Wrap, Trash method:

🌟SOAK: Submerge all spent fireworks, duds, and sparklers in a bucket of water overnight until they are completely waterlogged.
🌟WRAP: Place the wet fireworks into a sealable plastic bag so they stay damp and don’t dry out in the sun.
🌟TRASH: Toss the bag into your regular trash bin. (Remember: Even though they are made of paper, fireworks can never be recycled!)

When those summer inner tubes and rafts pop, they belong in the trash, not your recycling bin.

Why? Heavy vinyl and pool plastics can’t be recycled. When they hit our sorting facilities, they tangle up the machinery and slow down the whole process.

Planning a backyard BBQ? 🍖We love a good cookout, but we love keeping our drivers and communities safe even more!

Before you clean up, remember that charcoal ashes can hold heat for days, even if they look cold on the outside. Throwing hot coals into your trash cart can easily spark a fire in your bin or inside our GFL trucks.

How to safely dispose of charcoal:
1. Let the ashes cool completely for at least 48 hours (or soak them thoroughly in water)
2. Wrap the cooled ashes in aluminum foil
3. Then you can place them in your cart
