Up next in our Coach spotlight series, Mr. David (Dee) Schneider.

From Coach Dee,

I’m proud to introduce myself to the Effingham Jaguars family.

I’m a lifelong product of Effingham County — a 4-year letterman at South Effingham High School, where I played offensive and defensive line. After graduating, I joined the United States Army, where I learned discipline, accountability, and what it truly means to be part of something bigger than yourself.

Football has remained a constant in my life. I spent 13 years playing professional arena and semi-pro football, primarily at center, for teams including the Glynn County Revolution, Duval Panthers, North Florida Bears, Hinesville Hurricanes, CSRA Hurricanes, and the Effingham Outlaws where I was the offensive line captain on most teams. Along the way, I was fortunate to be part of five championship teams, learning how winning programs are built — not just on talent, but on preparation, effort, and trust. I also was considered an Allstar in the UFF, FFA, and the EAFL participating in multiple all star games as the starting center across multiple leagues. (Equivalent to NFL pro Bowl)

Coaching has allowed me to give back to the game and the community that gave so much to me. I’ve coached at multiple levels, including:
• Bloomingdale Bears (10U & 12U)
• Effingham Jaguars 12U, assisting in a District Championship
• New Hampstead High School as a Defensive Line Coach
• Currently, Offensive Line Coach for the Georgia Rebels in the IAFL (professional league)

But more than any title or level, this is why I coach:

Growing up in Effingham County 25 years ago looked very different than it does today. When I started playing football at nine years old, I didn’t truly learn how to play the game — especially as a lineman. I wasn’t taught technique or fundamentals; I was just a big kid filling a spot.

It wasn’t until I reached seventh grade and had my first real coach, Tommy Onorato, that everything changed. He taught me how to play the game the right way, and I’ve often wondered how far my career could have gone had I learned those fundamentals earlier.

My goal as a coach is to make sure today’s kids have the tools I didn’t have. I want to teach them proper technique, football IQ, and discipline — while also teaching them how to be good teammates and young men. I want to be the coach for these boys that a Coach Tommy Onorato, Greg Mainor, or a Donnie Revell was for me in Effingham County but earlier for today’s youth so they excel at the next level.

I’m honored to be part of the Effingham Jaguars program and excited to help build confident, disciplined, and fundamentally sound young athletes — on the field and in life.

Let’s get to work. 🐆🏈

For today’s coach spotlight, we have Mr. Anthony Moss

Coach Anthony Moss serves as the Defensive Coordinator for the 12U Jags, bringing five years of youth football coaching experience across the 8U, 10U, and 12U levels. Specializing on the defensive side of the ball, Coach Moss is known for developing disciplined, focused, and high-effort athletes.

In the 2025 season, Coach Moss played a key role in mentoring and guiding the Jags to a GRPA District Championship, helping secure a major victory for the program and setting a standard of excellence for future teams.

Coach Moss began his football journey at E.E. Smith High School in North Carolina, where he played linebacker for two years before finishing his high school career at Greer High School in South Carolina.

Beyond the field, Coach Moss proudly served in the United States Army, retiring in 2020. His military background strongly influences his coaching philosophy, emphasizing structure, accountability, and leadership.

Coach Moss believes in maintaining discipline while still allowing kids to have fun and enjoy the game. He holds student-athletes to a high standard, with academics coming first—grades are a priority.

The three core attributes Coach Moss instills in every player, both on and off the field, are Discipline, Effort, and Focus.

GO JAGS! 🐆

Next up for our coaches spotlight is Mr. Devon Marshall.

Coach Devon started playing football at 6 and played on the Effingham Jags travel team and one year with the hornets. While playing for the Effingham Jags, they were responsible for multiple championships.

Coach Devon played all 3 years at Ebenezer as a running back and linebacker, and played at Effingham County High School as a running back and linebacker.

After deciding to play next level football, Coach Devon played for the Semi-Pro organization, Effingham Outlaws. He specialized in playing running back, safety, and linebacker.

From Coach Devon:

“I coach because I’ve played at this age group and I love it. I get more satisfaction out of coaching the I ever did playing. I don’t just want to make these kids great players I want to make them great men. As the offensive coordinator it’s my job to call the best plays and to put these kids in the best position to make plays and to train them for the next level.”

Coach Devon also served as the Offensive Coordinator last season, helping the boys secure the 2025 District Championship.

We look forward to see what Coach Devon continues to bring to the Jags organization.

We’re going to do something a little different. Each day we will be sharing a “Coaches Spotlight”, introducing you all to the coaching staff for the Effingham County Jags.

First up, Mr. Jon Marshall Sauls.

Coach Jon is the head coach of the 12u Jags. He has coached youth football for seven years, specializing in offensive and defensive line. He led the 2025 Jags to the GRPA District Championship, securing a victory for the program.

Coach Jon attended Effingham County High School for 3 years on the offensive line. He attended Memorial High School where he earned honors as All-Region, and All-State for both offensive and defensive line.

He also attended Georgia State University where he played offensive and defensive line.

Coach Jon has been creating relationships with the Middle school and High school coaches in order to get them involved with the program and kids. He is wanting to build a culture that keeps the talent in the county as well as bring the talent back to the county.

Coach Jon believes in being tough but fair on his players. He holds a standard but also lets the kids know that they are valued and loved. He also believes in creating genuine relationships with his players that will last far beyond the last time they suit up for him.

Three values that Coach Jon implements both on and off the field are Faith, family, and football.

Three attributes that Coach Jon believes every player needs to have to be successful on and off the field: Tenacity, Effort, Focus!
