Interesting talk with a client yesterday. He got married to his same s*x partner in Iowa a couple years ago and now wants a divorce. Obviously he can't get one in Missouri & Iowa has a 12 month residency requirement. A question: If a person of means marries a person with no money, what's to stop the poor person from moving to Iowa for a year and then sueing for divorce in order to get half the marital property?
