Our Story
Hi! We are the Sacays, a family of five, and are based in St. Louis, Missouri.
We’re the founders of Purple Mitten. In late 2016, we migrated from the Philippines to the United States, and in early 2020, we decided to share the wonderful and diverse taste of Filipino snacks and delicacies with our friends and neighbors. With the original recipe shared by our parents, we started cooking Purple Yam Jam (ube halaya), which is a nutritious snack and dessert in the Philippines. During the pandemic situation, we perfected the process of cooking this wonderful snack, and hence decided to market another Filipino favorite side dish called Pickled Papaya (atchara).
We continue to dream of preparing yummy treats (which could take you to the beautiful and sunny Philippines), and bring the best snacks straight to your door.
We can’t wait to share more Filipino delicacies with you.
