The Grand Center music festival, known as MATI, got a revamp for its sixth year, including moving from September to July 16-19 for the first time.
This year, MATI also introduced a hybrid footprint, with ticketed shows happening inside venues along Washington Avenue. Outside, the festival held a free block party featuring a blue-and-red-tiled roller rink with free skate rentals; a midsize outdoor stage with performances by DJ Spinderella, ROTN and Nightchaser; a street lined with food vendors; and a bazaar featuring local entrepreneurs.
