This couple had planned a wedding in Santorini, Greece, but COVID hit! All but immediate family, had to be UNinvited -- which was devastating to the couple and invited guests! The groom's father was a pastor, and so the rehearsal, and wedding was planned in his parents' backyard. Caterers set up in the courtyard, make-up artists came to work their magic, and florists filled the house with beautiful flowers and dried arrangements! It was a hot August day in Arizona. Half the ceremony was outdoors, and half, thankfully was indoors -- the beautiful Candle, Cord and Veil ceremony -- a traditional ceremony in the Philippines. It's taken a few years to finish this drawing, but they said they weren't in a hurry. They just moved into their first house with a place to hang it, now, and received their drawing a couple weeks ago. They sat on the pool's edge and didn't mind their photographer's suggestion to GET IN IT later for more beautiful photographs.

Guests from around the world watched the ceremony via Zoom. The bride's family -- in several countries -- made a WONDERFUL music video to welcome the groom into the family. Music, dancing and laughter went on into the night. The newlyweds left under an archway of sunflowers and sparklers into the deep dark night, to begin their journey together into a beautiful future!

It has been quite a while since I've posted, but it doesn't mean I've not been active -- though still not as much as I was in the midwest ---YET. But things are beginning to amp up!

Sisters: I recently finished Sister 2 of three beautiful girls!! Sister two was such a wonderful challenge in comparison to her older sister, with her spiraling curls, boot stitching, bark -- on the log she was perched on, the woods, weeds, and leaves, that surrounded her! Her older sister, drawn last year, had long silky tresses, sitting in a field of wild grasses, wearing her mother's hat and tattered jeans which were challenging -- but really fun to draw!! Every drawing presents its own delightful challenges that stretch my experience! Last year's sister's portrait was a surprise. Now all three girls expect THEIR OWN protraits!

A drawing I finished just a few days ago presented its own challenges. I've drawn many hands before like a new mother's hand holding her baby's, old wrinkled hands -- who'd weathered 70* years of faithful married life together, newlywed hands with bouquets, but I'd never attempted drawing words or so MANY words such as the one here. My hands cramped and I was a bit cross-eyed when I was done, but I love how I stretched into this unexplored territory. The flowers were long gone by the time I did their photo session, but the Scripture theme of their wedding will last forever.

I was just about to post in my typical storytelling fashion about these three most recent works, and FB lost all I'd written.

I'm very frustrated since each of these works are so important to me. So, I'll post these without stories, this time. A note about the little boy's portrait: he's the 4th of 4 boys in his family that I've drawn at the age of 3. Yes, his shoe IS on the wrong foot.....part of his story, so I didn't "redress him" in my portrait. If the three boys in front of the train reminds you of a Christmas-time story, The Polar Express, it should! It's a strong tradition with this wonderful close-knit family. The wedding hands represent their commitment to a lifetime of love and an anticipation for a God-blessed future together!
