Thanks to The OT Toolbox for this informative post!

Convergence insufficiency is a binocular vision disorder in which the eyes have difficulty turning inward together (converging) to maintain single, clear vision on near tasks (e.g., reading, writing, device use). The visual axes tend to drift outward at near, leading to increased effort to keep images single.

What does this look like in functional tasks? A lot! CI impacts reading, visual motor tasks, writing and copying skills, functional participation.

Here are tips and strategies used at The OT Toolbox: https://www.theottoolbox.com/activities-to-improve-convergence-skills

Thanks to Decoding Dyslexia - UT for this all-important post!

It is entirely possible to test & evaluate young children for dyslexia BEFORE they begin to struggle with reading. If your child is challenged with rhyming sounds, has difficulty learning the alphabet or nursery rhymes, these could be early symptoms of dyslexia.

Symptoms can be demonstrated by as early as age 3, screenings can be administered as early as age 4

Talk to your childโ€™s pediatrician & ask for a referral to an appropriate specialist for evaluation. You & your child will be so glad you didโ€”for life!
