The Meramec…

I want to circle back on last weekend and recognize what happened. A fish of a lifetime!

Most people that fish the river understand. The Largemouth that was caught last weekend by John and Corey was years of time spent to get an opportunity.

There was a smallmouth a couple of years ago that was weighed in by Jeff Schultz that was unbelievable 6.40lbs…. with 4 others to go with it….to make a mega 19.74 lb bag! Look who was in the boat with him!

People look at this with disbelief as do I… what did they catch these on??? This is probably not popular opinion, but that’s not the question to ask…It is where? No matter the bait if you’re not around the big ones you cannot catch them.

Most people do not realize the amount of time spent on the water that it takes to understand our diverse rivers. There are a lot of guys that fish our club that have spent a lifetime fishing in ALL of the conditions. Cold & hot water, muddy water, high water, hot muddy, cold clear…. Freezing air temperatures, blistering hot, rainy weather…. You name it, these guys are at the river. They practice days prior. They don’t show up tournament day and wack on them.

Another thing to point out…like a large majority of us…we did not always have a boat. It was floating and walking the banks. Trying different spots and baits. Growing up on the river.

Last weekend when that largemouth came in, it was incredible. A true giant that will be talked about for a long time.

Come out and fish, get on the water. Join us for a tournament. Come and BS with us at the river. We love having new members and learning about all the ways to attack the river. We are so lucky to have such an awesome place to fish. With miles and miles of fishable water!

My 9 year old boy goes out with me and loves watching these guys weigh in. He says through the day “do you think we got enough dad?” Usually the answer is “nope”. It drives him to learn and work hard at it.

Come out and fish no matter what you weigh in. There is a chance at a great bag.

Congrats to Corey and John for capturing a Meramec slounch!

Hope to see all of you at the ramp!
