🌿🐆 Amazon Jaguar Festival 2025 🐆🌿

We’re excited to support our colleagues and friends as they launch the Amazon Jaguar Festival 2025, a community-led initiative headed by bringing together art, Indigenous culture, science, and conservation to honor the jaguar’s cultural and ecological importance.

📅 Dates & Locations
✨ Leticia (Peru–Colombia–Brazil): Nov 14–17
✨ Puerto Maldonado (Peru): Nov 25–29 (culminating on International Jaguar Day) 🐆

The jaguar is both a sacred symbol in Indigenous worldviews and a keystone species for the balance of the Amazon, yet it faces growing threats from deforestation and illegal trafficking. This festival is a community-led call to protect the jaguar, revitalize ancestral cultures, and inspire the next generation of environmental defenders.

Last field season, video journalists Georgia Krause (Seattle, WA) and Andrea Ramos Maldonado (Lima, Peru) were with the team at in Peru, capturing the lively and fast-paced activity of our research during the peak of the season. 🌿 We are very excited to share their final works!

There's more to it than just recording the action! 📹 To create final products like Georgia & Andrea do, hundreds of hours of footage must be meticulously edited for quality and, most importantly, for purpose. Will this video demonstrate detailed protocols for a scientific audience? 🧬 Will it tell a moving story of wildlife conservation to the animal-loving public? 🐾 Mastering this skill is key to effective scientific communication! 📝
