The weekend’s front pages announce eviscerating attacks on the Endangered Species Act. We also have updates on Jameson and news of other dogs killed by police, while Ridglan dog rescuers are charged with felonies. Horse advocate Senator Lindsay Graham has died, while Spain’s disgraceful San Fermin Bull Festival is alive and well. While that horror is legal, we see the possibility of serious prosecution for other forms of animal abuse, and note the advancement of laws to protect animals, from goldfish to the considerably larger animals we have traditionally gawked at or ridden for entertainment. And we see New York’s new Democratic Socialism being extended to nonhuman city denizens!
