So many responses to grief come from a desire to help. To make the pain stop. To fix what feels unbearable.

In this video, Nona Perdue, a bereaved parent, reminds us of something important: it is okay to let someone be sad. It is okay to let them feel what they are feeling.

Grief does not need to be rushed away. It needs room.

The people who truly support us are often the ones who can stay when the tears come. Who do not try to make it better. Who are willing to be present in the hard moments.

Sometimes the most loving thing you can do is let someone feel their sadness and stay with them while they do.

We don’t talk enough about how grief and money collide.

After a death, many people face financial challenges alongside emotional ones: loss of income, medical bills, funeral expenses, housing changes, or the sheer exhaustion of settling an estate. These are common secondary losses, but they’re often invisible and deeply isolating.

Grief already taxes your body, brain, and nervous system. Adding financial pressure (and the time, paperwork, and decisions that come with it) can feel overwhelming.

If this is part of your grief, you’re not failing.
You’re responding to loss in a world that asks too much, too fast.

Grief support isn’t just emotional support.
It’s practical.
It’s financial.
And it deserves to be talked about with honesty and compassion.

“There are really only two stages of grief: who you were before and who you are after.

Grief changes us. And, it's nothing we ever get over. It’s something we carry forward forever.”
