Last week, HealthForce Partners CEO Paul Lanning convened healthcare leaders from across the Northern San Joaquin Valley and Sierra regions for an important regional conversation at University of the Pacific focused on the future of healthcare education and workforce development in our communities.

More than 30 executives representing hospitals, clinics, healthcare systems, and employer partners participated in a dialogue with Pacific President Christopher Callahan regarding the university’s exploration of a potential School of Medicine on the Stockton campus.

The conversation centered on both the challenges and opportunities facing the region — including the growing physician shortage and the need to strengthen long-term healthcare access for the communities we serve.

At HealthForce Partners California, we believe transformative progress happens when employers, educators, healthcare leaders, and community partners come together around shared challenges and bold ideas.

This was an encouraging and energizing conversation — and an important step in exploring what could become a once-in-a-generation opportunity for Stockton and the broader region.
