Yesterday marked the launch of First Strokes, Delta Sculling Center's new four-week beginner rowing program. As the sun set over the water, a new group of rowers experienced the challenge, excitement, and reward of learning something completely new.
At DSC, we've been introducing people to rowing for more than a decade. But there's something special about watching beginners take those first strokes—stepping outside their comfort zone, learning a new skill, and discovering they are capable of more than they imagined.
Every rower on the water starts in the same place: not knowing exactly what they're doing, making mistakes, asking questions, and coming back to try again.
Last night's crew reminded us that growth doesn't happen all at once. It happens one stroke, one practice, and one small success at a time.
We can't wait to see where the next four weeks take them.
