Glow

I’m trying
I want to be happy on this day
Treat it just like any other
But my emotions seem to
Go back and fourth
Circling around and around
The inside of my mind
Creating a tornado that comes to visit
Every single year
Sometimes I lay at night
And I listen to my heart speak
It speaks to me
Asking me all sorts of questions
Why can’t I beat as loud as the other hearts?
Why do I feel so down?
Why don’t any of the hearts get close to me?
My eyes stare away
Trying to escape in the darkness
Not wanting my heart to see the rain they create
My voice gets caught in my throat
It tugs and pulls
It tries to give my heart an answer
Then it escapes
I can’t answer your questions
But you can beat as loud as the others
You grow when you are fed with pride
Everyday you give me the passion to write
And when you feel down
It is because you used up all your energy
To make others smile
You feel down when you don’t have the energy to help another glow
And you forget to glow for yourself
There is a heart out there
A heart that will connect with you
Beat at the same rate as you
And glow with you
But how will they find you
If you forget to glow?
