Baby-Parent-Steps offers classes for parents with babies during their 1st year of life. All sessions are based on PEKiP® the most successful research-based German educational program providing enriching sensory-motor activities for brain and body development.
We empower new parents to discover their baby’s natural potential through research-based, simple, practical, easy to follow sensory games and activities based on the ”learning by doing” principle.
Our goal is to support baby brain and body development through age-appropriate activities and to support parents in their role as new moms and dads. Parents learn the joy in bonding through interaction with their baby as they assist them in reaching important stages in the physical, cognitive, social- emotional areas.
Class categories range from 6 weeks to 12 months or until the child is walking. Small classes with a maximum of 4-5 babies and 4-5 parents and private sessions are also available. During COVID-19 pandemic year all classes are available due to the pandemic via ZOOM until further notice.
Benefits of the program? We offer over 100 enriching sensory-motor activities focusing on movement-stimulation of the whole body, supporting baby brain and body development in a purposefully arranged environment, and on enhancing the bonding process during the most sensitive period in a baby’s life, the first year. Individual attention to each baby-parent interaction and activity helps transfer the learning success into everyday life at home or on the go. Gaining confidence as a parent, connecting parents with babies of similar age in one class, sensitizing parents’ perception of daily routines, developing increased awareness of their baby’s skills, improving baby body awareness and experiencing games that encourage play and movement are just a few of the benefits of the Parent Baby Steps classes.
Being the first active PEKiP® instructor in the U.S. is an exciting and challenging adventure. I feel lucky to be able to offer an inspirational and empowering program for parents with newborns, a program full of enriching activities, to provide support for a healthy natural development of the baby and to enhance the bonding process from the very beginning of life.
Watching babies thrive and seeing parents gain confidence by the end of each Baby-Parent-Steps class are some of the proudest moments I experience in my teaching. Babies are the future of our society and our country! The opportunity of introducing the baby-parent program PEKiP® to the U.S. and the role I play in changing the way our society views parenting in the first year of life is a dream come true.
More information on the Baby Parent Steps classes based on PEKiP:
Each class is designed for a maximum of 4-5 parents and 4-5 babies who are of similar age. Classes consist usually of ten sessions that are held once a week for 75 minutes in a welcoming environment. Infants as young as four weeks old can be enrolled in age-appropriate classes: 1-3, 4-6 or 7-12 months old babies with one parent per baby in class. The program can be customized to allow your baby to learn and explore the world at their own pace. Depending on baby’s age an advance class can be recommended until the baby is walking.
Individual sessions and small classes are taught by Laura, a Certified PEKiP® Educator and Qualified Social Education Worker. At Baby Parent Steps Laura introduced the program to Arizona in 2015 and is excited to share research-based activities with parents and babies. Learn, bond, play, interact, connect, and explore together with your baby and meet like minded mamas with similar age babies in the same class.
