Hey everyone, just a friendly PSA in preparation for the freeze this week: Here are a few tips to keep your RV/Motorhome from experiencing major freeze damage $$$.
1. Get your RV winterized by a professional. Most of us are already booked up so if you don't have time by tomorrow here is what you can do:
A. Remove water from your RV if you are not using it. if you have a water heater, there's a little plug you can unscrew and it will empty the water from the heater.(See Picture) (Please note this does not empty water from your whole RV just the heater...see below for more steps) (please note always turn off power to rv before performing any maintenance on it)
B. Pour RV winterization fluid in each of your drains and in the toilet...this will help from sitting water from freezing in there.
C. Open low point drains - In many newer RV's there will be 2 pieces of pex pipes (red and blue) under your rv...there are usually valves you can see, turn them on and drain your lines...
D. Use Air: Remove your hose from the city water connection and connect an air hose (using an adapter from harbor freight or amazon) then blow out all your lines...open the shower, sinks etc before and make sure all the water comes out...you will still have to drain your fresh water tank and water heater separately.
E. Tankless water heaters can burst too! See the picture, make sure all water is your of your unit....
F. If you are living in your RV, keep your faucets dripping over night this should help, also make sure any tank heaters you have are turned on.
Please note there are still many backorders on water heater and parts so it could take a while for parts to come in, keep that in mind.
Looks like freezing temperatures are suppose to hit Thursday, Jan 8th...
