๐งช Understanding Clinical Trial Phases ๐งช
When you hear about a new treatment entering a clinical trial, you may see terms like Phase 1, Phase 2, or Phase 3. But what do those stages actually mean?
๐น Phase 1
The first step in testing a new treatment in people. Researchers focus on safety, dosage, and understanding potential side effects.
๐น Phase 2
Once a treatment appears safe, researchers study whether it shows signs of helping patients. This phase looks more closely at effectiveness while continuing to monitor safety.
๐น Phase 3
The treatment is tested in a larger group of patients to compare it to the current standard of care or determine how well it performs across a broader population.
๐น Phase 4
After approval, researchers continue monitoring the treatment's long-term safety, effectiveness, and impact in real-world use.
For families facing diseases like DIPG/DMG, clinical trials are often where tomorrow's treatments begin. Every approved therapy started as an idea, moved into a clinical trial, and advanced because families, researchers, and physicians worked together.
๐๏ธ Clinical trials are not guarantees, but they are how progress happens.
๐๏ธ Every phase teaches researchers something valuable.
๐๏ธ Every participant helps move science forward.
This National Medical Trials Week, we thank the brave patients and families who choose to participate in research and help create hope for future generations.

๐ National Medical Trials Week ๐
For many diseases, there are multiple treatment options and established paths forward. For families facing a DIPG or DMG diagnosis, that is often not the case.
Clinical trials represent more than research- they represent hope.
Every small breakthrough in DIPG/DMG research has been made possible because of children, families, researchers, and physicians who chose to participate in clinical trials. These studies help researchers better understand these devastating tumors, identify promising therapies, and move us closer to treatments that can extend and improve lives.
For newly diagnosed families, clinical trials may offer access to innovative therapies that are not otherwise available. For researchers, they provide critical information that helps shape the future of care. For the DIPG/DMG community, they are one of the most important tools we have in the fight against this disease.
This National Medical Trials Week, we honor the brave children and families who participate in research, the physicians and scientists who dedicate their lives to finding answers, and the advocates who continue pushing for progress.
Because every trial completed is another step toward hope.
Because every child deserves better options.
Because together, we can change the future of DIPG/DMG.
๐๏ธ Thank you to every family who has helped advance research through clinical trial participation.

Cash preferred and please consider using cash to support Satire as well- credit card fees and rising costs make it hard for businesses not to increase their own prices, let alone give back (which Satire does so much!) so let's help them and thank them for not immediately just raising prices like everyone else!
