‘‘Tis the season. A couple of days ago, I was reminded that holiday joy and cheer, the season of giving, lies within all of us. Reaching out to all of you, in memory of my good friend, Barb, who passed away after a long battle with breast cancer. She created Barb’s Fund, a pay it forward fund for my business, hoping that she could repay, in some way, all of the generosity and giving that had been bestowed upon her and her family. Many of you have contributed to it over the years so that we can pay it forward to others. Last week, I was informed of another friend who has been so instrumental and giving to our own community, whose cancer has returned . I can’t shake the feeling that all we hear in our media, support our sisters, make a difference, act now,etc just HAVE to be more than feel-good words! I am SOOOOO EXCITED, obsessed, pleased, wowed and moved by this piece! It's one in a series of three but I just couldn't wait to show off this first piece.... she came to me with card and weddings rings in hand, two simple plain gold bands of her mother's, one with a stunning diamond perched on top, and the other one, a perfectly plain match. We sat and talked and cried as she told me her journey and I learned that her mother had really specified that she wanted my client to somehow divide up her bands, giving a piece of what started their family, to her daughter and to her two sons. We took the "love Mom" off the card, made a sterling pendant, double sided with cross and heart, and trimmed hers in gold. Then, I went to my go-to craftsman, Garo, and he carefully took off the original diamond and head and soldered it onto her pendant. Absolutely amazing piece, set in Sterling and solid 14k gold, a piece of her mother's wedding ring to rest near her heart forever. What joy it gives me not to simply craft and design, but to be able to be a part of your story and your journey! Wear in good health and with her blessings, Maureen!
