SAAF CEO STATEMENT ON ELIMINATION OF HHS HIV POLICY AND STAFF CUTS
"The elimination of the Health and Human Services Office of Infectious Disease and HIV Policy is a devastating step backward in the fight against infectious diseases and HIV. This office has been critical in advancing policies that protect public health, promote research, and provide resources to those most vulnerable to those diseases.
By dismantling this office, we risk undermining decades of progress and jeopardize efforts to control the spread of infectious diseases, support at-risk communities, and ensure those living with HIV receive the care and services they deserve.
The decision to eliminate this vital office is short-sighted and will have long-lasting consequences for public health and equity. We must prioritize the health and well-being of all individuals, particularly those who are most vulnerable, and reinstate this essential office to continue the work of protecting and improving the lives of millions."
