Borosilicate glass (Pyrex)

Commonly known by the brand name Pyrex, boroilicate glass is a specialty glass used to make heat resistant items, including cooking ware, oven and microwave windows. It is made from the same formula as soda-lime glass, except is tempered through a second cooking. Looking at the glass itself, it’s difficult to tell the difference between Pyrex and soda-like glasses, so you have to look how its used. Also ‘Pyrex’ on the oven dish will identify. Old Pyrex cooking ware is popularly collected.

Insulated Glass

The similar starting point to laminated glass, but instead of filling the gap with resin, it’s filled with air or another noble gas (like argon) to influence the glass’ Ug value. Ug value is how quickly heat is able to transfer through a material.

MIRRORED GLASS

There are many types of glass available and another type is mirrored glass. Mirrored glass is quite simply a mirror – and can be produced in all sizes, from small bathroom mirrors to full-length wardrobe doors. It is made by applied a metal coating to one side of the glass, typically made of silver, chrome, gold or aluminium.
