Hope to see you all tomorrow. We have a guest speaker coming in to talk about Food Trucks and answer any questions you may have.

Post meeting we will continue on and will be doing poultry fabrication demos and hands on practice.

ACF Discussion
Last meeting, Chef Barry talked about the ACF certification.
Please contact Chef Elizabeth for more information about how to get a ACF Culinarian certified. (if you don't know, having one of these certificates is a big deal in our careers)

Also noted from Elizabeth if you want to take a test for the certification, she highly suggested that every individual practices a minimum of 10 times with the items that AFC provides in the practical testing. Which is know as the (market basket).

* There will be a study group for ServSafe certifaces - being head at one of the Culinary Club Meetings.

We already have 9 students sign up for this study group.

The Ongoing Discussion -

We were interested in having a Valentine's Day fundraiser, for those last minute homemade treats - We are currently looking for volunteers for this event. Please contact Culinary Club at [email protected].

As well as a Cream Social Social for the Desert Vista College Students and anyone attending campuss that day. We are still looking for a date., so if you have any interest in help setting this social up - please email the Culinary Club.

Students were interested in taking a field trip to Maggie’s Farm, we’ll need at least 10 students for this trip to happen. Let us now if you’d like to join. Dates will be discussed once we havethe students signed up.

Next Week's Meeting Discussion-

Grand Canyon El Tavares 5 Star Restaurant - will be skyping at 3:30 pm this Wednesday - February 1, 2017. via internet.
They will be going over insights on upcoming job openings and what 5 star restaurants are looking for in their future employees.

If you were ever interested in working in a 5 star restaurant - this meeting that shouldn’t be missed.

We’ll see all of you Culinarians Soon and have a creative and fulfilling week!

Certification Matters With thousands of chefs competing in the job market, it is essential to prove your culinary competency. Certification through the American Culinary Federation demonstrates skill, knowledge and professionalism to the food service industry.

We're very excited for our next Culinary Club meeting. We hope you have all been brainstorming about improvements we can make to the Club experience. Any skills, events, or demos you'd like to see demonstrated or happen please let us know. You can also bring these suggestions to Chef Wong and he will communicate with us. Keep in touch with us so we can deliver the best Culinary Club experience possible.
