Raw back story about this hoodie 👇🏾

For years, I’ve put my absolute best into bringing other people’s visions to life: designing, manufacturing, perfecting every little detail. I’ve created for brands, clients, organizations… making sure their pieces were flawless. But when it came to my own personal work? I put it last.

Failure has always been my number one fear. Not the fear of not executing, but the fear of putting my all into something… and it flopping. Truly, it feels MUCH safer to pour into other people’s visions instead. Or, at the very least, wait until I had enough buy-in before moving forward with something of my own. Because if I knew people wanted it beforehand, then I wasn’t really risking anything, right?

But here’s what I finally had to accept: Creating because YOU like it is enough.

So these four photos might not seem like much, but to me, they represent overcoming that fear of failure. Creating for me. Trusting my own work enough to not need outside validation before moving forward.

I stopped waiting for the perfect moment. Stopped worrying about whether people would support. And I put everything into this hoodie…not just as a product, but as proof, for me to me. That when I create for ME first, I’ll always be proud of the outcome. This is the most time I’ve spent working on the technical details of a garment, down to the fabric.

And now, I’ve made the best hoodie I’ve ever manufactured. Not for a client. Not for another brand. But for me. For DVN. AND ITS NOT EVEN THE FINAL SAMPLE. 😭

The thing about truly betting on yourself is you stop needing the reassurance, the external validation before you move. You just go all in.

Friend, if you needed a sign to finally trust your own creativity, to trust your gut, just create what YOU want, and stop holding back…this is it.

Custom moto jackets ate for Homecoming ‘23 and ‘24. This year, we leveled up with leather fabric embroidery instead of traditional twill, and it’s GIVING. 🔥

Next year, a lot of you are celebrating milestone anniversaries (5, 10, 15, 20, 25+ years), and it’s the perfect time to show up in jackets from DVN that you’ll want to wear long after Homecoming. Full transparency… Our Racing Tee Collection deserved better. Let me explain.

When I designed the collection, it came from a need for more from greek apparel. Membership is for a lifetime, but greek wear don’t always to fit into everyday life. Why can we wear our university gear or the gear of our favorite team anywhere, but it feels like we’re conditioned to think greek nalia is limited to greek events? Where’s the ‘life’ in that? 💭

The Racing Tee was our first step toward filling that gap; an ideally bold move to challenge how we think about greek apparel.

But when we dropped these back in March, we didn’t give them the love they needed. There was no photoshoot, few follow-up posts; just a drop and go 🙃. Whether it was fear of stepping out of the box, the nerves of dropping something new after years away, or ADHD doing its thing (or all of the above), these tees didn’t get the push they deserved.

Still, these tees are THAT tee.

This is for the visionaries. The trailblazers. The fashionistas. The streetwear enthusiasts.

I mean, heavyweight fabric ✅, slightly oversized ✅, drop shoulder✅, and vintage washed✅? It’s a luxe streetwear tee, for sure.
