This is a customer's guitar that I did a pickups and electronics upgrade on.
The original humbucker pickups no longer had life in them.
The customer requested Lace Alumitone pickups for the replacement. This was a challenge due to the fact that the cutouts in the guitar's body were larger and narrower than standard sizes.
The holes were very close in size however to fit humbuckers made for 7 string guitars.
Research showed that the Lace Alumitone 7s were going to work on the guitar.
The frame of the pickups required notching the corners and the rings also needed modification to fit the pickups.
Furthermore the mounting ring holes did not perfectly match up to the original screw holes so new ones had to be drilled.
Pots were upgraded to 250K Bourns Premiums and .022uf Orange Drop capacitors were used for tone.
The guitar sounds fantastic and the Alumitone pickups hollow frame allow for more acoustic sound to come out.
