Lazy B Ranch

We said goodbye to Smokey in March, as we had to help him over the rainbow bridge after a violent fight with our young stud horse who broke into the pasture, which resulted in a broken stifle. Smokey was our 20+ year old grade gaited gelding that was the Alfa male of the herd. He was the last of the horses who had been purchased for the grandkids. He was the safest, hardest to catch, non people, go anywhere, horse in the herd. He tried his best to “protect” his mares, and will be missed greatly, especially by Miles.

We have sad news… after rushing the foal to the mSU Vet School in the back seat of my jeep, and the great efforts to save it by both our local vet and the Vet school, he crossed the rainbow bridge. Things went south really fast, as last night he seemed happy and healthy. They will be doing a necropsy, and hopefully we will find out more. I will keep everyone posted. We are heartbroken.
