Spinning on a swing may look like simple play, but it is powerful brain work.

When children spin, they are strengthening the vestibular system—the foundation for balance, visual tracking, and focus. This system helps their eyes move smoothly across a page, helps both sides of the brain work together, and prepares them for reading.

Before a child can read words, their brain must first organize movement.

This is why we protect time for spinning, swinging, and joyful motion. It is not separate from learning. It is the beginning of it.
