Here is a recap of the recent Assembly District 27 debate. There will be another debate on Friday, May 8 at UC Merced. Brian Pacheco didn’t attend the first debate and hasn’t confirmed for May 8th. The issues we face as a region are too important to avoid.
Murphy, a former Merced mayor, and Uppal, a Livingston councilmember, are vying for a key battleground district in the state Legislature. Assembly District 27 includes most of Merced County, along with parts of Madera and Fresno counties. Who will rise to the top on June 2?
The Assembly 27th District is among the most-closely watched races in California because neither Democrats nor Republicans have a clear majority of the electorate (42% to 28% respectively), which means there’s a large number of decline-to-state or independent voters who could impact the outcome.
