READ AND SHARE THIS BEFORE A PET IS MISSING. About 9 - 10 years ago, I quickly recovered an escaped foster cat by SETTING TRAPS OUTSIDE FIRST--which is a method referenced in this article. I continue to see well-intended but misleading "advice" on recovering missing cats and other pets. Some of the well-intended advice spread on social media will not help, and may actually be dangerous for the pet.
Lost Cat Behavior Understanding lost cat behavior or missing cat behavior is important for recovery depending on your type of cat, are they an Indoor-Only Cat, Outdoor-Access Cat or Outdoor-Only Cat

GOODBYE TO LILY
-
Wed. Jan. 14, 2026
-
With heavy hearts, we share that we could not save Lily. Tuesday we learned that cancer could be involved. This morning, Lily arrived for her appointment to confirm a diagnosis and, if it was possible, to move to move forward with surgery. Sadly, it turned out that Lily did have cancer (with cryptococcosis also suspected). The cancer was too widespread for treatment and she was suffering with no hope for recovery. Lily was held and loved before and while she passed.
-
Lily had been rescued years ago and found a home for life with her devoted foster mom, who became her human mom. Over time, Lily settled into a cherished nightly ritual—sitting with her mom each evening.
-
Sadly, Lily’s mom could not afford Lily’s veterinary treatment. We paid most of Lily’s vet bills. We also gave her mom information about organizations that help with vet bills. We’ll remain available if another pet needs help, with the hope that an intervention can come sooner if there is another pet in need.
-
Words cannot express our gratitude to everyone that helped with networking and donations. We are also deeply thankful to the veterinarians and others that moved quickly to arrange transport and appointments, and prepare for treatment.
-
Lily, we're sorry we could not make you well. You were loved and you mattered.

BARSTOW, CA. CAT FOOD URGENTLY NEEDED! FEEDER WAS FURLOUGHED! A group of kitties rely on two people that feed them. The feeders live paycheck-to-paycheck and need all they earn to pay bills every month. One has been furloughed, and with the loss of income, they can't afford cat food! Currently, they feed 11 – 14 kitties twice daily. Most come twice per day, but a few come and go.
-
We have worked with these people for more than four years. Living on a modest income, every day, they dedicate labor and whatever they can afford to help animals, feeding and trapping for TNR and rescue, while spending little on themselves. Please help them continue their hard work to help the kitties. They will gratefully appreciate any donation to help the kitties.
-
We have an Amazon wish list set up for this location. If you buy from THIS Amazon wish list, the cat food you purchase will be shipped directly to the feeders. https://bit.ly/Barstow-Wish-AZ
-
As another option, you can send us a donation and we will ship food. Please include this note: “Barstow.” Donation information is here: https://bit.ly/crt-d
