Warrior to Love: Jags Preseason Game

The energy was a bit subdued during the Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Buccaneers preseason game on August 17, 2024, but that did not dampen my enthusiasm. Arriving at the stadium for the leadership briefing with S.A.F.E. Management Management, I joined my fellow supervisors to synchronize our operations for the night.

Although the Jags starters were not on the field, it was an exciting opportunity for the 2nd and 3rd string players to showcase their abilities. My area of responsibility was the North End Zone Deck, where I worked alongside three other supervisors and 25 dedicated team members to ensure the safety and security of our guests.

For me, game day is more than just a side gig—it’s an experience. I’ve committed to embracing a Love mindset in all interactions, whether with staff, guests, or vendors. This approach is about more than just doing a job; it’s about creating a positive, memorable atmosphere for everyone involved.

One thing I have noticed is the impact of collaboration, especially when it comes to vendors providing services and concessions. In the past, the guest experience has sometimes been affected by a lack of communication between vendors, leading to missed opportunities for coordination. By working together with a shared goal of delivering the best possible experience, we can navigate the complexities of multi-agency collaboration and truly elevate the NFL experience.

I am grateful for the opportunity to lead and work alongside the incredible people who make game day special. Interacting with the team members and fans in my area gives me a deep sense of purpose. It is these moments of connection that make the magic happen.

As the Jags secured the win, many fans began to leave during the 4th quarter. But the game was entertaining, with players giving their all to earn a coveted spot on the roster. There’s palpable excitement in the air as we look forward to the home opener next month, with high hopes for at least a 10-win season and even a potential Super Bowl appearance.

I love being part of this community and feel more excited with each event. The future of the Jags and City of Jacksonville is bright.

So, get off the couch and manifest your happiest life. I look forward to seeing everyone at the next game!

Warrior to Love: Celebrating Love and New Friendships

This past Sunday, I had the honor of officiating the wedding of Chris and Brandy Lindgren in Jacksonville, Florida. The ceremony, held at a beautiful park in Atlantic Beach, was a testament to their incredible journey and the power of love and resilience.

Chris and Brandy's story is one of overcoming adversity together. They met while working together and later endured a challenging period of homelessness on Florida's Gulf side. This experience could have broken many, but it only fortified their commitment to each other. They moved to Jacksonville seeking better opportunities and now work hard to provide for their young son.

Their ceremony was simple yet profoundly moving, filled with heartfelt vows they wrote themselves. Their son even decided to participate, adding a special touch to the day. The setting among densely populated oak trees provided a serene and beautiful backdrop for their vows.

One of the greatest joys of my work as a wedding officiant is the deep connections I form with the couples I serve. Chris and Brandy were no exception. From the initial planning stages to the day of the ceremony, we developed a wonderful friendship. Their kindness, respect, and genuine love for each other were inspiring.

I left the ceremony filled with love’s energy and gratitude for being part of such a special day. The ability to adapt to the ever-changing dynamics of each wedding and to share in the unique stories of each couple is what makes my work so rewarding.

I am thrilled to have gained lifelong friends in Chris and Brandy and look forward to seeing their continued journey together. Officiating weddings is more than just a job for me—it’s a passion that allows me to celebrate love and create lasting memories.

If you are planning your special day and looking for a personalized, heartfelt ceremony, I would love to help make your vision come to life. Here’s to many more beautiful moments and the incredible friendships they bring!

From Public Service to Heart field: Embracing a Love Mindset for a Fulfilling Civilian Life

Transitioning from military or first responder service to civilian life presents unique challenges. At the core of this journey is a profound shift from a warrior mindset, honed for survival and resilience, to a love mindset, essential for personal fulfillment and happiness.

Understanding the Shift

The warrior mindset is about discipline, resilience, and strategic thinking, essential traits for confronting adversities and immediate threats. It's characterized by mental toughness, a focus on mission success, and often, emotional suppression to maintain focus. While invaluable in service, this mindset can make the transition to civilian life, with its different challenges and priorities, difficult.

A love mindset, on the other hand, emphasizes empathy, compassion, and connectedness. It's about opening your heart to yourself and others, fostering relationships based on mutual understanding and care, and finding joy and fulfillment in everyday life.

Cultivating a Love Mindset

1. Embrace Vulnerability: Vulnerability is a strength. It's the gateway to deeper connections and healing. Allow yourself to feel and express emotions, and don't hesitate to seek support when needed.

2. Foster Compassion and Empathy: Begin with self-compassion. Understand and forgive yourself for any perceived shortcomings. Extend this empathy outward, striving to understand and feel with others.

3. Build Community Connections: Seek communities that encourage emotional expression and understanding. Shared experiences can be powerful, but connections based on shared humanity are transformative.

4. Find New Purpose: Your service was your mission; now, define a new purpose that brings joy and fulfillment. This could be anything from mentoring, volunteering, to pursuing hobbies or education.

5. Practice Forgiveness: Holding onto past hurts or regrets can weigh heavily on your heart. Forgiveness, including self-forgiveness, is liberating and opens the path to love and happiness.

6. Prioritize Self-care: Self-care is an act of self-love. It's essential for mental, emotional, and physical well-being. Find activities that nourish your soul and bring you peace.

Integration, Not Abandonment

Adopting a love mindset doesn't mean discarding the warrior mindset. Instead, it's about integrating the strengths and skills you've developed into a broader perspective that values love, compassion, and connection. This integration fosters a balanced life where happiness, peace, and meaningful relationships thrive.

The journey from a warrior to a love mindset is a path of healing, growth, and discovery. It requires courage, patience, and support but leads to a fulfilling and happy civilian life. Remember, transitioning is not just about adjusting to a new life; it's about transforming your inner landscape to embrace love fully.

As veterans and first responders, you've served with honor. Now, let that service continue in the way you live and love in your civilian life. Embrace the love mindset and watch as new doors to happiness and fulfillment open before you.
