Food and inflation
So at my fire station we have to cook and feed 12-13 people 3 meals a day + snacks. In order to do that we all come to work and pay $15 each at the beginning of the shift. So generally we have $180 for 3 meals but that includes minor overhead and savings so our real food budget is under $150.
I was reading an article on who produces great value products (partnerships and relationships with major labels) and I was specifically inspired to try the GV French roast coffee….
Reaction to the coffee …. Wow, it is good
What’s the point?
Every shift we spend $110-130 and we have a lot of left over food. We make enchiladas, Beria tacos, steaks, all kinds of shredded meats, scratch cakes, loaded nachos, fajitas, chicken n dumplings, fried chicken, pancakes, waffles, home fries, roasted chicken…. $15/person/ day for 3 quality meals. The actual food cost per person is about $11.50/day.
1) You can make it.
2) Great value products are produced by major brand partnerships. Salsa chips, cheese, pasta, coffee, you name it.
3) Try the coffee
4) Budget (I get groceries delivered because I hate parking, walking thru the store, checking out, loading the car…. We save so much money & time the cost of delivery is negligible).
5) there’s always food and money left over if you cook.

Pro tip. I bought the top set of tires on Amazon. They arrived in a couple of days. They cost $112 each. When they got here I took them to Pedro’s tire shop (24hrs) and had them installed for $50 at 11pm. It took them 25 mins. $274 total installed
Dis # # tire $385 installed. Not 25min fast. Not open 24 hours.
What works for you? Do you want to take time off work to put on tires or do it at 11pm and your wife says ‘where did you get that done so fast at 10pm? You’re the best’..
Pros know
OT knows more than just towing. I know where to get you right at 2am.
It’s not the mileage that counts, it’s the maintenance. A well maintained car with 195k miles is a tank. Buy a 90k mile car with no maintenance and you’re buying someone else’s to-do list. Tie rods, motor mounts, tune ups, flush transmission, belts, hoses, coolant flush, STRUTS. All MUST be done at least by 100k. Factor that into your price. Don’t be fooled.
