Our Su***de & Drug Harm Prevention Specialist, Leah, attended the Common Threads Neurodiversity Resource Fair earlier this month. 💙

It was a wonderful opportunity to connect with our community and share information about Safe Communities programs, services, and resources!

Our very own, Leah Rolando, was quoted:

“In the data that we get on su***de deaths in Dane County, we’ll see health conditions listed as a risk factor, or chronic pain listed as a risk factor,” she said.

While her group focuses on providing resources to people in crisis, she said ensuring state residents have their basic needs met before they begin struggling is critical to curbing future su***de deaths.

“I think we can do both, and just try to connect people more in a world that’s increasingly disconnected,” she said.

"We are not going to heal all traumas and rebuild broken systems overnight, but we can commit to continued learning and doing some things differently.

We can make space for grief.

We can be curious.

We can share with one another how we’ve made it through difficult times.
