The past couple of weeks have been the most beautiful and the most terrifying of our lives.
I developed eclampsia, and shortly after birth, our sweet boy was diagnosed with a pneumothorax. Before I could even fully process becoming a mama, our baby had to be airlifted to the NICU at McLeod Regional Medical Center.
Because of complications, I had to remain at Tidelands Health for five days while my husband went with our baby. I didn’t get to spend much time holding Arch before he was taken — he was in the nursery hooked up to machines, and then suddenly he was on a helicopter.
Arch spent seven days in the NICU, and I will never have enough words to thank the incredible doctors and nurses at both hospitals. The compassion, skill, and steady reassurance from the teams at Waccamaw and McLeod carried us through the scariest moments of our lives. You didn’t just care for us medically — you cared for our hearts.
Today, we are all home. Safe. Recovering. Grateful beyond measure.
Our sweet Arch made his arrival at 7 pounds, 13 ounces and 20.5 inches long — and he is absolutely precious. We are so blessed and overwhelmingly thankful that what could have been a very different story ended with everyone okay.
Thank you to every nurse who checked on me, every NICU nurse who cared for our baby like he was your own, every doctor who acted quickly, and every prayer that was lifted on our behalf. We will never forget what you did for our family.
He’s here. He’s healthy. And we are so, so grateful. 🤍
