The Eiffel Tower—built in just 2 years, 2 months, and 5 days for the Exposition Universelle (1889), marking 100 years since the French Revolution.

But the iconic structure was nearly torn down.

By 1909, demolition was the plan.

What changed?
It worked with the weather, not against it.

Its height made it essential for meteorology and radio transmission, helping scientists better understand wind, air pressure, and atmospheric behavior.

And that changed everything.
