🗣️ IT’S THE FINAL WEEK TO APPLY FOR THE 2026 OPEN ROAD FUND (ORF)!

ORF distributes $50,000 wealth-building gifts to Black descendants of the Transatlantic Slave Trade (14 and older) in Minnesota, North Dakota, and South Dakota. These gifts are not reparations, but an opportunity to redistribute resources to our communities to build Black wealth.

If you haven’t yet submitted your application, we want you to know something:

You are worthy of this opportunity. Who you are, as you are, is enough. We may not know one another, but you are our people. City blocks or hundreds of miles may separate us, but we are part of the same community. We want you to be successful in all your endeavors, including this application. We want you to be successful in your journey to build wealth. And we want you to be successful in any project you join to create economic justice for Black people. May this be only one of many opportunities ahead of you. 🤎

Applications close this Sunday, July 19, at 11:59 pm CT. Learn more and apply at https://buff.ly/NuaajDS

Last month, our North Star Black Cooperative Fellowship celebrated the graduation of 14 cooperative groups and 33 fellows! 👏🏾

When we launched Cohort 9 in October, we couldn’t have foreseen navigating a federal occupation during our seven-month journey. Fellows were navigating political challenges, funding concerns, personal responsibilities, and the realities of doing social justice work in a time that often feels heavy. Yet North Star became a space where we could practice hope together: where Black people could gather, learn from one another, and continue imagining futures rooted in abundance rather than scarcity.

Our 2026 Boards & Commissions Leadership Institute (BCLI) cohort is underway!

In April, 13 new fellows embarked on our seven-month BCLI journey. Our latest group marks the 13th cohort of the program—168 alumni strong! We're honored to equip these leaders to serve on city, county, metro, and state boards and commissions.

We are excited and proud to introduce Annie Hanson, Beirut Abafogi, Donniel Robinson, Eve Vang, Hli Tsaab, Huda Yusuf, Libin Hashi, Marco Cruz Blanco, Mehry Khodarahmi, Olivia Long, Reginald Wiley, Richard McLemore II, and Uri-Biia Si-Asar!
