When I was in 10th grade, my teacher Mrs. Calister at Newburgh Free Academy changed my life. She didn’t just teach us to write essays, she taught us to question everything. Books, news, history, authority. She gave us permission to think critically and follow our curiosity.
My dad used to call me Inspector Gadget because I was always asking questions. And now, as a hairdresser, healer and practicing magic (with a K), biz owner, mother, wife, musician that skill matters more than ever.
We’re living in a time where cruelty is being normalized. People are profiting off our division.
And what breaks my heart most? Watching kind, thoughtful people lose empathy and compassion and make excuses for harm.
This isn’t just about politics. It’s about real humans. Real suffering. And the real systems that benefit from keeping us separate.
But we don’t have to feed those systems.
We can build new ones. That’s why I created a collective salon, not a top-down model where I profit off others, but a space where everyone grows, earns, and heals together, to then pass it on and make it even better.
Lets ask ourselves
🔺What stories am I repeating that aren’t mine?
🔺Where have I stopped being curious?
🔺How can I bring more compassion into my day?
🔺What am I feeding, love or fear?
🔺Where have I stopped caring?
🔺What kind of world am I helping build every day?
This is a call to get curious. Build trust. Have real conversations. Check on your neighbor. Lead with love for our community (which includes everyone)
Because the micro does affect the macro. And the new world starts with us.
This division isn’t sustainable.
Let’s ALL COLLECTIVELY SAY ENOUGH!
The only way this world is going to work is if we return to connection, not performance.
Compassion over cliques
Dialogue over dogma
Curiosity over control
Can I get a witness?!
