About Me
Some of our best creations are unplanned. Sometimes, what we need is to express and create in order to understand ourselves and our circumstances. It doesn’t have to make sense and it doesn’t have to be pretty, but you must tell your story.
I resisted the urge to write for years. The perfectionist in me believed expressing feelings coherently on paper intimidating and nearly impossible. I worried about making everything “just so”. I worried about the audience before I even began.
One day, I decided my feelings and experiences could no longer live rent-free in my headspace. I would type and let my fingers fly, without judgment or editing. Even if I could only begin with one sentence.
One sentence quickly turned to 64 poems that I allowed myself to create over a year and a half. I hated to call them poems. “I’m no poet”, I repeated to myself every time I thought of sharing my work.
