Always something fun going through the shop! These two tables met up in Final Assembly. One is a really cool design that I named after the city of Fulton.
The other is made from Live Oak timbers, which held up a barn that Shanghai Pierce built 1865-1875 right after the Civil War.
“Abel Head “Shanghai” Pierce (1834–1900) was one of the most influential figures in Texas during the late 19th century. A legendary cattle baron known as the “Cattle King of the Gulf Coast,” he built a vast ranching empire that helped shape the Texas cattle industry and the development of the coastal prairie region. Beyond ranching, Pierce was also involved in transportation and railroad development, recognizing the critical role rail connections would play in moving cattle, supporting commerce, and opening South Texas to economic growth. His entrepreneurial vision, frontier determination, and larger-than-life personality made him one of the most prominent and enduring figures in Texas history.”

Wood in itself is a pretty amazing material. But when you add light to it, wow!
