Studio Tigre
Thank you for 12 amazing years as Kindness and Mischief Coffee. We are now Studio TIgre: A Coffee Universe!
π₯Getting ready for THIS FRIDAY's coffee roasting workshop!π₯ I debuted this exact workshop at World of Coffee San Diego last month - and it SOLD OUT y'all, so I wanted to bring it home to LA π
If y'all know me, then you KNOW how much accessibility and not gatekeeping information means to me. When I had K+M Coffee, it was a non-negotiable value of mine to give everyone on my team an opportunity to come to the roastery with me and learn. Even though YES - it was a VERY expensive value to hold and YES, it absolutely f*d with my bottom line LOL - but that's why it's important! So many people are never given access to this kind of information, and so many people are told NO when they ask for it.
Roasting is magical β¨ but it ain't magic! It's math, science, and 100% teachable. Whether you're a coffee professional, coffee enthusiast, and ESPECIALLY if you're someone who's ever faced the unfortunate reality of gatekeeping in our industry, I gotchu. This workshop is for you β
Here's what we're getting into:
The theory and science behind the roast. Hands-on time on a sample roaster. Then we finish with a cupping so you can taste exactly what we talked about. Three hours. We literally have like 2 spots left. Real knowledge you can actually use, taught by people of color in an inclusive and accessible environment π₯³
ποΈ Tickets are $225, BUT as a thank you for supporting me here, comment WORKSHOP below and I'll send you a link for an insider discount π
Love and appreciate y'all. See y'all Friday!

As a Filipino immigrant, my parents gave up everything for the promise of the American dream. The promise of a "better" life, upward mobility, prosperity, happiness. As with so many immigrant stories, the reality was extreme sacrifice, a forced erasing of our culture for assimilation, racism nevertheless, and poverty instead of prosperity. The years were long and difficult. It took us 19 years to gain our citizenship. NINETEEN. And we're considered some of the luckier ones.
Yet ask my family about it today, and they will STILL talk about that dream. Despite what is going on in our country, they still believe in it. Their hope brings me to tears; torn between seeing their hope as a beautiful form of resilience and resistance, or an absolutely futile one, or both - especially coupled with what's been happening in MN. I fight back despair often.
I refuse to accept that THIS is the America my parents gave their entire lives for. I refuse to accept that this path of cruelty and devastation without consequence or accountability is our future.
l stand in solidarity this Friday, January 30th, and every damn day, with those in resistance to the absolute f*ckery that is this administration. I know my decision is easier and of privilege since my small business only employs me. For those who choose to stay open for community and resilience, I see your struggles and your hearts too. Support your local small businesses. Support your neighbors. Then support those who aren't your neighbors as well but who also deserve your support simply because they are a human worthy of goodness and life. The only way out of this is together. Our voices are louder together, our power is stronger together. TOGETHER is the only way we topple this fascist regime that's forming, and together is the only way we can move forward towards a future worth fighting for.
In love and solidarity, Mo π F**K ICE. β
π¨LAST CHANCE!π¨ TODAY is the LAST KICKSTARTER DAY for Kuyas! They're SO close y'all - they just need a little more to hit their goal! Kickstarter is ALL or NOTHING - that means if they don't hit 100% of their goal, they get $0 that they and y'all have worked so hard to raise π€―
THANK YOU to everyone who's donated and shared already. It means the world to me, to Sian and Arnold of Kuyas, to our Highland Park community, and to our Filipino community! Representation matters, y'all. K+M was founded on the value of diversity, equality and representation - uplifting those marginalized and creating a space for those who never got a seat at the table. Sian and Arnold of Kuyas are former K+M teammates. They're going to continue that beautiful and important value - BUT ONLY if they reach their goal!! They can't open without us. If we don't support our small businesses, you've already seen what's been happening - they're going to close, and the community you love so much is going to disappear; only to be replaced by rich corporations. Let's make sure that doesn't happen. Donate if you can, sharing is always free π₯° We love y'all so much, and appreciate all your support! LET'S DO THIS! πͺπͺπͺ
π¨ KICKSTARTER UPDATE!π¨ Y'all - our former K+M shop fam .la are t-minus 5 days until their Kickstarter ends, and they still need $10k. Asking for help is hard enough, but no one ever likes to ask for money straight out - so I'm going to do it for them. Community, you know these two from my K+M team - all the fantastic food you've eaten at the shop? That was our Chef Arnold. All the gorgeous plants and countless lattes served to you - that was our barista and plant guy Sian! After I made the decision to close K+M, I knew I couldn't live with myself if the space went to someone sh*tty. Another corporation or rich a$$hole who doesn't give two sh*ts about our neighborhood and the incredible humans in it. Despite K+M closing, I knew I had to just do one last thing - I HAD to protect the beautiful community we built, and HAD to made sure the space went to people who loved y'all as much as I do (despite my therapist telling me to learn to let go π
).
β’
I knew these two have held dreams of their own small businesses. Of creating, of supporting, of fostering community - of doing SOMETHING. I thought it was the perfect opportunity - and I'm so glad they said yes when I asked them if they wanted to make their concept of .la a reality in the former K+M space. But they need HELP y'all (don't we all!) - but truly, this dre, the support that K+M received that taught me what real community looks like, the people who are the reason we keep going, even though the world is on fire. Y'all keepam can't happen without the village that helped raise me up in times of need and I know how hard that was, and how every little bit helps. To every person who sees this - THANK YOU for being here, and we hope that y'all can keep coming to the shop as it evolves into its Kuyas era. Let's make that dream a reality. Donate if you can, sharing is always free. We love y'all forever π
