Continuity of care x2 x2.
This is one of the deepest layers of midwifery.
The continuation of care across years.
I have had the immense honor of being these sister’s midwives two times, with a relationship that spans almost 5 years.
I have gotten to know them and their family. I have watched their children grow, their confidence grow, their families grow. And within that time, they too, have become my “family.” I care about them and their children deeply.
There is not much that compares to being with humans as they become mothers, but being with them as their families grow and generations spiral out into the future is one of the most rewarding experiences of my life.
Midwifery is more than clinical care. It’s deep and wide and connects us at a spiritual level. Their wellbeing is tied to my wellbeing and I am dedicated to ensuring they are always healthy, vibrant and supported.
When you care for families over years…there is a connection that is bigger than just a “business”relationship.
This is something that the industrial birth complex cannot facilitate or comprehend & something they don’t want you to know; that this level of deep, intuitive care exists.
You are not just a number to me, you are someone I love and care about and I am honored to be your midwife.

Another year as a rural, community midwife serving families in 2 states and 9 different counties. I drove over 30,000 miles this year and had the immense honor of witnessing the power of humans and birth. Laughing Moon Midwifery also gained a new birth assistant this year and she is lovely! I’m excited for you to meet her! We’re already gearing up for 2026 babies and looking to possibly have a lighter year this New Year. Maybeeee😉
My stats reflect a hill I will never stop defending….that physiological birth is safest for the birth-dyad, that people know how to give birth and babies know how to be born and as long as I’m a midwife, I will always stand with families that they own birth. Not me, not a doctor, not the hospital. Families.
I am blown away at how much you all teach me every single year, YOU make me a better midwife! Thank you!

Centering the birthdyad is a cornerstone of my practice. I believe deeply in the connection between you & your baby and I will always respect both of your innate needs to be together. This looks like ensuring you never have to take your hands off your baby if you don’t want to! That means newborn exams done right beside (or on 😜) you, while your family watches and feeds you freshly grown watermelon.

It’s that time of year again. 11/11. My . Fourteen wild years of answering the call of birth, holding space, witnessing the growth of my community, being the student and the teacher. The watcher, the waiter, the listener, the truster, the guard.
I owe the deepest gratitude to the families that choose me and to the birthing dyad that allows me to be present to the magic of their sacred birth dance.
My entire “why” is right here in this snapshot.
The birth dyad. The most ancient dyad of all time. The place where it all begins and ends. I will never grow tired of the privilege of being your midwife.

We are so sorry to hear this news from Michel Odent's family.
"It is with great sorrow that the family of Dr Michel Odent announce his death at the age of 95. Dr Odent was born July 7, 1930, in Bresles, France. He died peacefully in London, England, on August 19, 2025 following a brief illness.
Dr Odent trained as a general surgeon in Paris, and advocated for the demedicalisation of birth whilst in charge of Pithiviers Hospital. In later life, he founded the Primal Health Research Centre in London, and published extensively on topics related to childbirth and early breastfeeding.
He is survived by many loved ones, including his partner Liliana, and children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. His family wishes to express their thanks to the doctors, nurses, and staff of St Mary’s Hospital, Paddington. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to La Leche League. Dr Odent will be cremated in a private family service with a public memorial to follow in several weeks."
