🤔 WHY is a Home Inspector posting a picture of a beautiful claw foot tub?

To educate everyone about a potential health hazard due to the way this one is setup.

So, the faucet supply at the tub is lower than the overflow drain. This defect is called a “cross connection”.

What is a cross connection you ask?

A cross connection at a clawfoot tub refers to a plumbing setup where there is a potential for contaminated water to mix with the clean water supply. This typically occurs when there is a direct connection between the potable (drinkable) water supply and a source that can be contaminated, such as a bathtub or other fixture.

Improper Faucet Installation: If the faucet or spout of the clawfoot tub is installed below the rim of the tub or overflow drain, water from the tub can siphon back into the potable water supply.
