"A Man Called Pearl," left a remarkable legacy of a 3-acre topiary garden in Bishopville, South Carolina. Self-taught, Pearl Fryar was an artist with hedge pruners.

Pearl Fryar dies at 86. The self-taught topiary artist spread a message of love. A son of sharecroppers, he began making topiaries in his 40s, turning his three-acre home garden into a destination for thousands of people each year.
