The music may be over, but the exhibition will remain on display in the Library until January 2026, so feel free to explore the stunning pictures of iconic Black musicians and athletes from throughout DC’s history in Lauinger’s first floor.

Please join our librarians and staff in welcoming Alexia Hudson-Ward to Georgetown as the new Dean of the Library and University Librarian!

Hudson-Ward began her role on Aug. 30, 2025, following the departure of former dean Harriette Hemmasi. She most recently served as associate director of research, learning and strategic partnerships at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

“This role not only presents the opportunity to lead the libraries and partner with the dedicated library staff and colleagues, but also enables a meaningful partnership with an institution of enduring distinction.”
